Broth Mix returns for GI 2014 hosted by the Kinning Park Complex

Tags | , , ,

Its is great to announce that a new Broth Mix project is going to be part of the Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art in 2014. Based on the concept started by myself and Leigh French in 2007 at the Intermedia gallery, Broth Mix will be the temporary transformation of part of the Kinning Park Complex into a space for conversations and action with both the local community, the wider creative community in Glasgow and the festival audience.

The Open Jar Collective are taking on the organisation of the project and will be curating a series of events that bring people together through the common connection of food. We will be resident in the space for two weeks of the festival, the creative process of developing the space with the community open for all festival visitors to observe and participate in during the first week and the programme of events taking place in the second week.

The Kinning Park Complex is an independent community centre in the southside of Glasgow and a creative hub, incorporating artist studios, community spaces and hosting a regular programme of activities and events. We will work in collaboration with the community and are aiming for the project to assist with the development of the kitchen space for use after the project is over and highlight the ongoing struggles of the members to secure a long-term future for the building.
